Banana Velvet Doughnuts

Banana Velvet Doughnuts Ingredients

2 eggs
1 banana
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbs butter
1/2 cup honey
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp nutmeg
fat for deep frying
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 tsp baking powder

Banana Velvet Doughnuts Method

In a large bowl sift together all the dry ingredients. In another bowl beat the eggs until light and then gradually add the honey and continue beating until well mixed and then beat in the mashed banana, butter, sour cream and vanilla and then stir in the flour mixture. Dough should be soft. Put the dough into the refrigerator and chill it for 2 hours. Roll out till it is about 1/4 inch on a floured board and cut the doughnuts with a doughnut cutter. In deep fat heated to 370 degrees fry a few Banana Velvet Doughnuts at a time. Fry the holes as well as the doughnuts. Turn doughnuts when they rise to the surface and are brown on the underside. Fry until brown on both sides. Remove the Banana Velvet Doughnuts from fat and drain thoroughly.
