Beef Balchao Recipe

Balchao is a method of cooking either beef, fish or prawns in a dark red and tangy sauce. In beef balchao, there is a mixture of spices ground together to make thick paste. The spice mixture is used most commonly for pickling the meat. It has almost a sweet-hot-sour flavor.
 
Recipe Ingredients

  • Oil ¼ cup
  • Beef undercut ½ kg
  • Water 1 cup
  • Onion sliced 1
  • Dry red chilies 6-7
  • Cloves 6-7
  • Chopped garlic 4-5 cloves
  • Chopped ginger 1
  • Cinnamon 1 piece
  • Black pepper 1tsp
  • Turmeric 1tsp
  • Sugar 1tsp
  • Red chilli 1tbsp
  • Whole cumin ½ tbsp.
  • Tomato paste 2tbsp
  • Vinegar 2 tbsp
  • Salt as required
Recipe Method

  1. In a dry frying pan fry 1 piece cinnamon 6-7 dry re chilli 6-7 clove ½ tbsp cumin and 1 tsp black pepper and grind them all together and  take a powder
  2. In other wok heat 2 tbsp of oil add 1 piece of ginger and 4-5 cloves of garlic and fry till it get ripe
  3. Add the masala powder in it
  4. Then add ½ kg beef undercut cubes and 1 Sp turmeric and saute for 1 minute
