Behari Chicken

 

Recipe Ingredients

  • Chicken ½ kg
  • Yogurt 250 gm
  • Onion 1
  • Oil ¼ cup
  • Coriander leaves ¼ bunch
  • Ginger chopped 1 piece
  • Chili powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds crushed 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Crushed red pepper 1 tsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Nutmeg mace ground ½ tsp
  • All spice powder ½ tsp
  • Raw papaya 2 tbsp
  • Desiccated coconut 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Recipe Method

  1. In a bowl marinate ½ kg chicken with salt to taste, 2 tbsp raw papaya paste, 250 gm yogurt, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp crushed cumin seeds, 1 tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp all spice powder, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp crushed red pepper, 1 tsp turmeric and ½ tsp nutmeg mace powder. Keep aside.
  2. Heat ¼ cup oil in a pan, add 1 chopped onion and fry till golden brown.
  3. Then add marinated chicken and ½ cup water. Cover and cook for 10 – 15 minutes.
  4. Now turn the flame high, fry well on high flame till water dries.
  5. Lastly add ¼ bunch of chopped coriander leaves, 1 piece of chopped ginger and 2 tbsp desiccated coconut. Mix well and serve.
