Crispy Potato Balls
Recipe Ingredients

  • 3 middle-sized potatoes
  • 1 raw egg, beaten, lightly whisked
  • 1 tbsp. chopped scallion
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp. chicken essence
  • 1 tsp. salt, or to taste
  • 5 tbsps. vgetable oil for deep-frying
Recipe Method

  1. Rinse the potatoes well, then cook them in boiling water until done, peel and mash into paste with the back of a spoon, place into a bowl.
  2. Stir in 1 tsp. salt, 1 tbsp. chopped scallion, 1 tbsp. chicken essence, and 1 tbsp. butter, stir until blended well.
  3. Form the paste into tiny balls of 2-inches diameter, place onto a plate.
  4. Make batter by whisking whisked egg with 1/2 cup flour, the batter should be thick.
  5. Lightly coat each potato balls with the batter.
  6. Heat 5 tbsps. vegetable oil in a wok over high heat, when it is shimmering on the bottom and very hot, but not yet smoking, add potato balls in, deep fry over medium heat until golden-brown.
  7. Drain in a colander and dry on kitchen pappers, coat with your favorite sauce for a mouthwatering treat
