Recipe Ingredients

  • Gram flour 1 cup
  • Salt
  • Atta 1 1/2 cups
  • Oil
  • Poppy seeds (soaked in water and then ground) 2 tbsp
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • Onions 2
  • Coriander leaves 1 bunch
  • Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  • Sugar 2 tsp
  • Juice 1 lemon
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Green chillies 3
  • Ginger (finely chopped) 1″ piece
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
Recipe Method

  1. Mix the gram flour and atta. Add oil.
  2. Add salt and prepare dough with a little water.
  3. The dough should be thick. Chop onion in hot oil.
  4. Add coriander leaves, grated coconut, chopped ginger, chillies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, sugar, salt and lemon juice.
  5. Stir continuously. Add garam masala and chilli powder.
  6. Mix well, cook till done and cool.
  7. Make balls out of the dough, roll into puris.
  8. Apply poppy-seed paste and fill with coconut filling.
  9. Fold into semi-circles. Deep fry in oil on moderate heat.
