Mrs. Tester’s Swiss Christmas Cookies

1 c. molasses
1/2 c. Crisco
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted before measuring
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 drop ?????

 

Bring Crisco and molasses to a boil. Remove from heat. Cool slightly. Add remaining ingredients. Chill overnight. Stand at room temperature a few minutes before rolling. Roll very thin (required hard rolling). Bake at 300 degrees about 10 minutes. Watch carefully, burns easily. Remove from cookie sheet immediately. Makes about 8 dozen.
