Potato Varah Recipe

Mouth-watering potato varah is spicy balls also make in flat pattie shape, coated with gram flour batter. Varah is eaten as snack with green dip and garlic sauce. Great to have in aftar.
Potato Varah
Recipe Ingredients

  • Potatoes ½ kg (boiled)
  • Gram flour 125 gm
  • Cumin ½ tsp (whole)
  • Coriander leaves 1/4 bunch
  • Mint 1/4 bunch
  • Onion 1 (finely chopped)
  • Red chili 1 tsp (ground)
  • Tart ½ tsp (ground)
  • Mustard seeds ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon slices for garnishing
  • Tomato slices for garnishing
Recipe Method

  1. Mash boiled potatoes by hand.
  2. Combine salt, coriander, ground tart, ground red chili and water with gram flour and make a mixture.
  3. Now mix coriander, mint, green chili, onion, cumin, salt, nigella seeds, mustard seeds and ground red chili in potatoes.
  4. Make small round balls.
  5. Dip it in gram flour mixture and fry in hot oil.
  6. Garnish it with mint leaves, sliced lemons and tomato slices.
  7. Serve with green chutney or tamarind chutney.
